I'm not joking when I say liquid coffee concentrate sachets have changed the home-made latte game.

Homemade Hot Latte Made with Perk Fine Grind Ground Coffee and Frothed Fresh Whole Milk.

Hot Latte Made with Fine Grind Perk Coffee Beans.

Previously, I covered how to make home-made caffe latte at home without expensive and bulky machinery like barista coffee machines or automatic coffee capsule machines. In the post, I introduced portable coffee machines that are inexpensive, really convenient, and superb for beginner coffee makers.

Homemade Hot Vanilla Latte Made with Yasumi Coarse Grind Ground Coffee, DaVinci Gourmet Vanilla Syrup and Fresh Whole Milk.

In another post, I introduced Yasumi coarse grind coffee beans and the innovative Yasumi Press, demonstrating another super easy and convenient way to brew coffee: the French Press method.

One popular method among trending coffee content creators is using a frother to mix instant coffee powder and water together before adding it to a cup of milk or any other creative combination. I shall cover that method in anther post one day.

However, in this post, I introduce a new player in the convenient home-made coffee game: liquid coffee concentrate.

What is Coffee Concentrate?

Coffee concentrate is a highly concentrated coffee solution made by brewing coffee with a high coffee-to-water ratio, resulting in a potent liquid that can be diluted with water or milk to create a coffee drink. It is typically made by steeping coarse coffee grounds in cold water for an extended period, usually 12-24 hours, then straining out the grounds to leave a strong, flavorful coffee extract.

Cold brew coffee concentrates are highly versatile, take up less space in your fridge, and last longer than traditional brewed coffee. Cold brewing results in a non-acidic and smooth brew that can be kept in the refrigerator for days - perfect for those who enjoy high-quality and convenient caffeine kick at home.

Introducing Wake The Crew Coffee Concentrate

Wake The Crew is a local Singapore company that offers cold brew coffee concentrates with no sugar and no preservatives. Additionally, Wake The Crew is committed to sustainability, using recycled coffee grounds as fertilisers in local community gardens, thus promoting a circular economy.

In this post, I made a super easy latte using fresh milk, ice balls and a sachet of Wake The Crew's Cold Brew Espresso Liquid Coffee Concentrate. Done in less than 5 minutes, it's really simple to clean up too, as no extra equipment was used to make this coffee drink.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the taste of the liquid coffee concentrate. Initially, I was worried that it might be too bland for my liking, but it was surprisingly strong. After just a few sips of the coffee drink, I felt the caffeine kicking in faster than my usual cup of coffee. Of course, this is subjective to everyone, but for reference, I am a frequent coffee drinker myself. However, I'd advise not to drink more than one cup of coffee per day, especially when using Wake The Crew's Cold Brew Espresso Liquid Coffee Concentrate. One sachet of caffeine is sufficient to last for a day.

If you're lactose intolerant or you prefer your coffee rich and black, simply omit the milk and add a sachet into a cup of water (adjust the temperature to your liking). You would definitely save a lot of calories - within the estimated 77 kcal total calorie count of this latte in this post, 70 kcal comes from the fresh whole milk.

If you fancy your coffee with notes of hazelnut, Wake The Crew also offers Liquid Coffee Concentrate in the variation of Cold Brew Hazelnut. Get a box today and try it for yourself - see how easy it is to make coffee at home!
