I recently went on a picnic and decided to experiment with building my own cheese charcuterie board using somewhat affordable ingredients from Fairprice Finest Singapore. As a result, I had some leftover dips and sliced cheese, inspiring me to create a wrap for a quick and hearty breakfast or even a brunch/lunch option.

For the wrap, I chose Fairprice Wholemeal Wraps—cholesterol-free, a great source of dietary fiber, and made with 20% wholegrain wheat. Wholegrains are known to reduce the risk of health conditions such as heart diseases, excess weight, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers.

Grains, like corn, rice, and wheat, are seeds of cereals. Wholegrains retain their original three parts: bran (the hard outer shell), endosperm (the middle layer), and germ (the inner layer). Refined grains, on the other hand, have had their brans and germs removed, making them less nutritious than wholegrains. Another fun fact is that wholemeal bread is made from wholegrains milled to a fine texture, giving it a plain brown appearance.

BETAGRO brand pre-marinated tender chicken breast, only available at 7-Eleven Singapore stores.

A nutritious wrap requires protein, and for mine, I tried the packaged pre-marinated chicken breast from 7-Eleven Singapore. Though a bit pricey at $2.80 for a 90g packet, the chicken breast is juicy, flavourful, and can be served chilled.

Chicken breast is an excellent source of lean protein compared to other chicken parts, helping you consume a high protein intake with lower fat content. People who maintain a balanced diet with just the right amount of protein are more likely to preserve muscle mass and a healthy metabolism.

While the packaged chicken breast can be eaten chilled, I preferred cutting it into slices and cooking them for a warm flavor. As the chicken sizzled in olive oil in the pan, I caught a whiff of the rich aroma of rosemary and garlic and it smelled so good.

Next, I heated up a wholemeal wrap in another pan with a slice of Food For Friends Mild Cheddar Cheese. After a few seconds, I placed the warmed chicken slices on it, followed by a generous scoop of Yumi's Avocado with Sea Salt Dip. The combination of Rosemary and Garlic chicken with avocado dip resulted in a flavorful wrap. After a brief moment, I rolled up the wrap and prepared scrambled eggs as a side for extra protein.

This dish is rich in protein, but do take note of the high sodium content due to the pre-marinated chicken breast, cheese, and wholemeal wrap. Avoid this meal if you are monitoring sodium intake, as high sodium diets may increase the risk of high blood pressure, leading to stroke and heart disease.

Lastly, I just wanted to showcase this adorable Christmas cup that has recently been added to my mug collection! Purchased from Japan Home Singapore at an affordable $6 during their Christmas sale, it has become my morning source of joy as I use it for my daily cup of coffee.

With that, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2024! :)
